Chiang Mai – streets, food markets, people and spirituality |
Jakub Puchalski

Chiang Mai is a vibrant cultural center in Northern Thailand. The most charming part is its square-shaped old town, which is a mix of aging private villas, temples, small businesses, hotels and guesthouses, lovely cafés, restaurants and markets. Best to be explored on a bicycle that you can easily rent on any street. The best way to experience the city and meet its citizens is to join them for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Most Thais do not cook at home. Instead they head to one of many food markets filled with food stalls to eat quick, cheap, hangout with friends or buy something for take away. Chiang Mai has some of the best and cheapest food around. The welcoming atmosphere in the city is created by its citizens. Kind and smiling people, who usually don’t avoid having a chat with a stranger…….
