Climbing Slieve Donard with the Fujifilm X-Pro2 | David Cleland

Nothing beats a 6 hour adventure into the Mourne Mountains on a bright winter’s day with the Fujifilm X-Pro2. We started with an early meet at Trassey Track and made our way up past the river to the famous Hare’s Gap. The tops of Slieve Bearnagh, Binnian and Donard with thick with snow and there was certainly lots of ice as we climbed up the Gap. I was travelling light with the Fujifilm X-Pro2 and the 16-55mm zoom lens, both are weather sealed which was reassuring given the amount of snow we were facing especially on Donard. We made our way from Hare’s Gap through the Brandy Pad with the snow covered peaks of Slieve Binnian just visible overlooking Ben Crom Reservoir. It was a bright day but absolutely freezing in the shade, the Fujifilm X-Pro2 performed exceptionally well given the ever changing balance of light and shade. Even when focusing on low contrast, dark areas on the mountains it hit the spot every time……..
