Leica Q – Quick Camera, Quick Review | Michele Belloni

I will not write yet another tech review. Instead I want to quickly tell you about this little gem from a point of view of the street and travel photographer. Being a pure Made In Wetzlar camera, a comparison to the big sister M is a must. The Leica Q turns out to be thinner and smaller than a traditional M but the materials used in its construction ooze quality from all sides. This Leica Q falls in hand just like an M and the lens, although larger than a traditional rangefinder lens because of the optical stabilizer, is compact and has the same construction quality of its younger siblings: smooth focus ring, soft and precise diaphragm ring (1/3 stop), third world war barrel-proof. The viewfinder is one of the strength points: with its almost 4MP doesn’t make you feel the lack of a traditional optical viewfinder nor a rangefinder one allowing, in case you want to go with manual focus, zoom and focus peaking (in several colors) and show you exactly everything that the large back LCD does…….
