This is very disappointing and frustrating news. I’ve been eagerly awaiting this lens since it’s announcement on the roadmap that suggested an Autumn release.

For X-Pro 1 users like myself, almost a year will have lapsed before getting the chance to experience any NEW Fuji Primes! The 18-55mm (which is now taking production preference) is no consolation to us same X-Pro 1 owners, who are quite likely to have this range pretty much covered in primes.

I’ve been so close to going with other system lens options which need adapters, but the Fuji option still seems to me the fastest, most compact and least expensive choice overall; so I held off.
The expectations are high for the Fuji 14mm, but slightly wider Zeiss is becoming a real consideration right now.

Zeiss would be foolish not to take advantage and I will likely wait to try both out before reaching for my wallet………

P.S. I don’t give much hope of timely releases for the army of lenses being touted for 2013, especially if a lowly quantity, niche market 14mm can be held up by 2-3 months!
Not happy, not happy at all.

True the 14 is wanted but I want my zoom to. Good sales of the XE-1 Kit can only open the door for more and great lenses if they know they have more cameras to mount them to!
