REVIEW – LEICA 135MM F4 TELE-ELMAR-M #11861 | Pebble Place

I have always enjoyed using the Canon 135mm F2 L on Canon full-frame dSLRs because of its bokeh, so I have tried to replicate that on the Leica M’s. Unfortunately there is no such thing as a Leica 135mm F2 Summicron-M, so this effort is mostly in vain. My latest 135mm experiment is the Leica 135mm F4 Tele-Elmar-M. Its optical formula dates back to 1965 and remained unchanged throughout its 30 year production run. Ultimately the 135mm Tele-Elmar was superseded by the Leica 135mm F3.4 Telyt-M APO in 1998. While the 135mm Tele-Elmar’s optical design remained constant, the lens barrel changed considerably between the first and second version. I opted for the second version due to the built-in lens hood and its more contemporary design…….
