Rotterdam’s Legacy | Sebastiaan van Wijk

Rotterdam – New York. Minor obligations brought me to Rotterdam this morning, which means to bring a camera along. This time I decided to shoot the ss Rotterdam. She’s a 1956 double propped steamer, and brought back to the Ports of Rotterdam in august 2008. Originally in order to celebrate the 100th anniversary of RDM Shipyards, where she was once build. After having served the HAL (Holland Amerika Lijn) as a transatlantic liner between Rotterdam – New York, and after bankruptcy of Premier Cruises where she carried the name Rembrandt as a cruise ship, the Port of Rotterdam decided in 2001 to bring this piece of maritime heritage back to her roots…….
