What Makes Someone Jump Ship ? | Joe Giordano

Of course what I mean by this is what makes someone like myself sell all my DSLR gear that I have grown so accustomed to using for years and switch to mirrorless.  Gear that I have trusted to help me get some truly great images over the years. My first experience with the Fuji X system was when I had my Nikon in service for a sensor cleaning.  I had ran across this person selling a used Fuji X-E1 with a 35mm f/1.4 lens for a decent price on Craigslist so I shot into Manhattan one afternoon and bought it.  I spent the rest of the afternoon doing some street photography then I hopped on the train for my trip home for the night. I really didn’t think too much of the camera at first because I didn’t think I would be able to adjust to the slower focusing of the X-E1.  The Nikon was lightning fast compared to this Fuji but a funny thing happened when I imported the Fuji images into Lightroom.  I was amazed at how many keepers I had and the amazing colors and contrast this little camera was capable of.  To be sure it wasn’t just luck I went out the next day and did some more shooting and again I was pleasantly surprised when I viewed the images on my computer.  This was the beginning of my love affair with the Fuji X system…….
