Two Fuji’s One Canon | Ben Cherry
If you’re looking for an X-series AF tracking test using a manic springer spaniel as the test subject then you are definitely in the right place! My spaniel, Charlie, is the ultimate test subject that I put all my cameras through to determine their auto focus capabilities and limitations. This was previously conducted when i moved from a Canon 1Div to the 5Diii, which was dramatically better, with a very high hit rate using the wonderful Canon 70-200mm F2.8 IS ii. Now the time has come to test the Fujifilm X-T1, 55-200mm lens and a prototype of the 18-135mm lens. I did try this test with the X-Pro1 about this time last year and the results were almost laughable… The X-T1 is an entirely different beast. What I have found so far is that once it locks on to a subject this camera is very good at tracking and seemingly with all Fuji lenses. However, there’s tracking and then there’s Canon 5Diii AI Servo… So how did the X-T1 and the latest telephoto lenses hold up against the ultimate action combo? Well I have to say I am extremely impressed by the results. So much so I’m not sure whether people can tell the difference. Each camera was set to ISO800, F5.6 (yes I know this means the 18-135mm was wide open) and used centre point continuous focus. Each lens was fully extended.. I didn’t hold back the zoom of the 55-200mm, woops forgot the crop factor………

I like to do my pre wedding / get to know you shoots close to the wedding as the fun we have together is remembered on the wedding day and as we have seen each other recently I’m not turning up as a stranger, more as a friend. For those photographers that follow these were all shot with the Fuji XT-1 and 56mm f1.2……..

Long Eyecup
I recently upgraded my eyecup to the Fujifilm X-T1 Long Eyecup EC-XT L, which shields the light making the viewfinder easier to see. I highly suggest upgrading if you shoot outdoors often or shoot with glasses on. It simply snaps on and provides you a more comfortable experience when looking through the viewfinder……….

Buongiorno From Roma | Matt Brandon
We left Rome today and are now in Florence for the next few days. Rome was everything I had dreamed it would be. Well, almost. Everyone said the coffee would be the best I have ever tasted. So far I have not had a bad cup of coffee. But I don’t find it head and shoulders above the rest of the worlds cappuccino’s and espressos. Now the gelato… that’s another story! I am sure there is no better ice cream on the planet! I think literally half of Rome is under construction. Most of what we wanted to see was under scaffoldings. Seriously, the Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain, The Spanish Steps and more all under renovation. Oh well, looks like we will just have to visit again! Here are a few images from Roma! Fujifilm X100s for still life | Ohm-Image
I am a still life photographer and my needs in a mirrorless camera are vastly different to the majority of photographers. They are probably much simpler than yours. A very few are sophisticated. The first things I check for in a still life camera are: a good WiFi app, a decent flip-out screen, and the ability to pan and zoom at 100% magnification. I don’t use native lenses, and until recently, I’ve had no need for autofocus. But about a month ago, I sold my X-Pro 1. As much as I loved that camera, it wasn’t the ideal backup camera for what I do and how I shoot. In particular, card write-time was too long for audiophile events/press events. Perhaps worse was its jumpy EVF. I replaced it with an X100s. Saying goodbye was difficult. The good news is that the X100s has blown me away. Silent and deadly that little beasty is………

2014 | The Year So Far | V. Opoku

Traveling with the Fuji X-System around the world | Laith Al-Majali
The past year has been a record year for me in terms of travel, being a working photographer has its advantages and disadvantages, while most people think that all we do is take pictures, there is a lot of work that takes place prior and after the fact. From getting to the location to shooting pictures to selecting, editing and publishing, all of these take up more time than the actual making of photographs. I have spent enough time in airports and inside airplanes the past year and a half to last me a life time, but still everyday I wake up feeling blessed that I get to do what I love. I have put my old blog to rest, and for the past couple of days I have worked on changing my mindset of how I will be posting my work online and luckily I figured things out, this new format is the way to go. I now don’t feel the urge to wait till I collect a large number of photos to post to a blog, this new format will allow me to share more of my photographs with the world……
