Fujifilm NP-W126 Review: OEM versus Watson | Daniel K. Cheung

The X-T1 uses a NP-W126 Li-Ion battery. Rated at 1260mAh, you’ll have at least one of these if you own a X-T1, X-E1, X-Pro 1, X-A1 and X-M1. I get a solid 2-3 hours worth of shooting with each NP-W126 battery. To qualify this statement, I am often shooting with EVF-mode only, chimp occasionally, shoot in S-AF, in CH burst mode, and with high-performance enabled. Those are my settings. From time to time, I turn on the wifi and transmit a few jpegs across to my iPhone. On average, I easily get 2-3 hours worth of photos. For all DSLR users, the battery capacity of mirrorless cameras leaves much to be desired. I am under the assumption that most Fujifilm X-T1 owners are photography enthusiasts as the camera doesn’t exactly appeal to the general public due to its ergonomics. For the typical photography enthusiast, I am going to recommend that you pick up at least one additional NP-W126 battery. Each takes 2+ hours to fully charge. I own (by last count) a total of 12 NP-W126 batteries. Overkill perhaps but when I have back-to-back weddings, the risk of running out of batteries is quite high. Today, I am going to address the subject of OEM versus Watson branded aftermarket NP-W126 batteries…….
